Delta Elevates Business Class with Luxurious Suites—But Fleet Inconsistencies Remain

Delta Air Lines is making major strides to enhance its business class experience, rolling out its signature Delta One Suites—private, fully enclosed suites with sliding doors—on its newest wide-body aircraft, including the Airbus A330-900neo and Airbus A350. These upgrades are part of Delta’s push to compete in the premium travel market, offering lie-flat seats, direct aisle access, and upgraded amenities for long-haul travelers.

Where You’ll Find the New Delta One Suites

  • Airbus A330-900neo and A350-900: Most of these aircraft now feature Delta One Suites, providing a modern, luxurious cabin experience. The A350-900s, in particular, were the first to debut the suite, though some ex-LATAM A350s still have older 2-2-2 layouts. Delta is actively converting these to the new “35H” configuration, which will include 40 Delta One Suites and more Premium Select seats, with the retrofit expected to finish by 2027. 
  • Upcoming A350-1000s: Delta has ordered 20 A350-1000s, set to arrive from 2026 onward, all of which will feature a next-generation Delta One Suite with further improvements in privacy, comfort, and storage. 
  • Airbus A330-200 and A330-300: These older aircraft are being retrofitted with Delta One Suites over the next few years, replacing the previous reverse herringbone seats.

Persistent Inconsistencies Across the Fleet

Despite these investments, Delta’s business class experience still varies significantly depending on the aircraft:

  • Boeing 767-300ER: This model will not receive the Delta One Suite. While it has undergone minor refreshes (new screens, updated upholstery), it retains an outdated business class product that lags behind competitors. These aircraft are being gradually retired, and their presence in the fleet will diminish over the next few years. 
  • Boeing 767-400ER: These jets feature a modified version of the Delta One Suite but lack sliding doors, offering less privacy than the latest suites. 
  • A350 Fleet Variations: Some A350s, especially those acquired from LATAM, still operate with older business class layouts. Delta is working to standardize these with the new suite configuration, but the process is ongoing.
