Accor to Open Novotel Victoria Falls, Marking Major Entry into Zimbabwe

Global hospitality leader Accor has announced plans to open the Novotel Victoria Falls, its first hotel in Zimbabwe, marking a significant strategic expansion into one of Africa’s most iconic destinations. The new 111-room property, set to open in 2028, will be developed in partnership with Eagle Real Estate Investment Trust and located in the Eagle Heights precinct, offering prime views over the Masuwe River and proximity to the world-renowned Victoria Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

The agreement, unveiled during the Future Hospitality Summit Africa, positions Accor as a first-mover among international hotel brands in Zimbabwe. The Novotel Victoria Falls will feature family-friendly amenities such as an outdoor swimming pool, kids’ club, all-day dining restaurant, and a destination bar, catering to the growing demand for modern, accessible accommodation in the region. The hotel aims to attract both families and adventure-seeking travelers, capitalizing on Victoria Falls’ reputation for activities like white-water rafting, bungee jumping, and scenic helicopter flights.

Accor’s entry into Zimbabwe is part of its broader strategy to expand in emerging markets and support local tourism development. Maya Ziade, Accor’s Chief Development Officer for the region, emphasized that this project is expected to drive long-term, sustainable growth in Zimbabwe’s tourism sector. Bevin Ngara, Managing Director of Eagle Asset Managers, highlighted that the partnership will bring international hospitality standards to Victoria Falls, benefiting local communities and investors alike.

With over 590 Novotel hotels worldwide and more than 180 in the pipeline, the brand’s arrival in Zimbabwe underscores Accor’s commitment to supporting the evolution of Victoria Falls into a year-round destination for global travelers. The move also reflects the group’s confidence in the region’s potential, given the limited presence of global hotel chains and the increasing flow of regional and domestic tourists.
