In a ground-breaking move, Airporter, Inc., and MUIC Kansai (Kansai Innovation Center) have introduced Japan’s inaugural off-airport check-in service at Kansai International Airport. This innovative service streamlines the luggage process by facilitating direct delivery from hotels or designated drop-off points to departure airports in Japan and then on to international arrival airports.
The successful proof-of-concept project, initially implemented with JAL customers departing from Kansai, marks a milestone in travel convenience. Looking ahead, Airporter and MUIC Kansai aim to collaborate with major Asian airlines frequently used by international travelers visiting Japan.
Specializing in same-day luggage delivery between airports and hotels, Airporter has broadened its service to include international airports. The integration of Airporter’s same-day luggage delivery with online check-in contributes significantly to the digitalization of boarding procedures, effectively reducing lengthy wait times.
Osaka became the primary focus for implementing this service, with an eye on Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. Airporter and MUIC Kansai now have plans for a comprehensive expansion, aligning with Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. Their strategy includes the augmentation of partnerships with major Asian airlines and the development of dedicated equipment for installation in hotels, stations, and other key locations. This advancement will empower passengers to perform luggage check-in procedures conveniently at specific points within the city.
