Brussels Airport is gearing up for its busiest summer ever, with more than 5.1 million passengers expected during July and August 2025, marking a 5% increase over the same period last year. The surge coincides with the start of school holidays in Belgium, kicking off on July 1 for Dutch-speaking schools and July 5 for French-speaking schools. The airport anticipates its single busiest day on July 28, when nearly 93,000 travelers are forecast to pass through its terminals.
Travelers this summer will have access to 180 direct destinations, with sun-soaked favorites such as Spain, Türkiye, Greece, Italy, and Morocco topping the list. Other popular destinations include Portugal, Tunisia, Egypt, and Croatia, while long-haul travelers can choose from far-flung spots like Curaçao, Bangkok, and Singapore.
The airport is running over 1,800 flights per week and has coordinated closely with partners to ensure a smooth travel experience despite the high volume.
Brussels Airlines, the country’s flagship carrier, is also preparing for a record-breaking summer, expecting nearly 2 million passengers and operating a fleet of 50 aircraft—up from 44 last year. The airline has expanded its network, especially to Spanish, Greek, and Italian destinations, and has added capacity to meet the growing demand.
