Embraer, the Brazilian aerospace giant, made headlines at the 2025 Paris Air Show with a series of significant commercial and military aircraft deals, underscoring its growing influence in both regional aviation and defense markets. The company’s most notable announcement was a landmark order from US regional carrier SkyWest Airlines for up to 110 E175 jets, a deal valued at approximately $3.6 billion. This order is expected to bolster SkyWest’s regional fleet and demonstrates strong ongoing demand for Embraer’s E-Jet family.
In addition to the SkyWest deal, Embraer revealed that South African carrier Airlink will lease 10 new E195-E2 jets from Azorra, marking a major fleet upgrade for Airlink. These next-generation jets, offering improved range and fuel efficiency, will enable Airlink to expand its network further into sub-Saharan Africa. The E195-E2s are the first factory-new aircraft to join Airlink’s fleet, which has operated Embraer jets since 2001. The operational similarities between the E1 and E2 models are expected to ensure a smooth and cost-effective transition for the airline.
On the defense side, Embraer celebrated two key milestones. The Portuguese government announced its intention to acquire a sixth KC-390 Millennium transport aircraft, expanding its versatile fleet for missions ranging from cargo transport to humanitarian aid. This move positions Portugal as a reference operator for the KC-390 in Europe and highlights growing interest in the aircraft among NATO members. Additionally, Embraer marked 600,000 flight hours for its A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft, now operated by 22 air forces worldwide. The A-29, recently acquired by Portugal in a NATO-interoperable variant, continues to prove its value in a range of missions, from pilot training to border surveillance.
