Emirates Introduces Premium Economy Class In Boeing 777

Emirates announced Tuesday at the Dubai Airshow that it will expand its new premium economy product to 105 additional Boeing 777s and Airbus A380s.

The new product will be installed on 52 A380s and 53 777s starting in December 2022. Three rows of premium economy seats in a 2-4-2 arrangement will replace five rows of economy seat aft of the business-class cabin on the 777, totaling 24 seats.

Premium economy on the A380 also has a 2-4-2 arrangement, with 56 seats fitted on the main (lower) deck of the aircraft. Emirates intends to operate a fleet of 111 premium economy aircraft. By the end of 2021, six of the Dubai-based carrier’s A380s will have the equipment installed.

Emirates premium economy seats have a leather seat with a 40-inch pitch, 19.5-inch breath, and an 8-inch recline into a cradle position, as well as a leg and footrest. A 13.3-inch personal television with Emirates’ sophisticated ICE personal entertainment system is included in the seat.

In a statement, Emirates president Sir Tim Clark stated, “Emirates is investing in this refit initiative to guarantee that we continue to service our passengers’ needs and give best experiences in the skies. Since launching our premium economy seats a year ago, we’ve had a lot of excellent feedback. The quality and comfort have astounded customers”.
