Singapore-based HalalTrip, a Muslim travel specialist, is focusing on expanding its presence in Saudi Arabia, leveraging the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 initiative aimed at diversifying its economy and enhancing tourism. With the recent introduction of multi-layered tourist visas, Saudi Arabia is evolving into a significant destination for both domestic and international tourists.
HalalTrip is collaborating with local partner Wojhatt Travel to promote Saudi Arabia as a rich heritage and cultural tourism destination, going beyond the traditional pilgrimage offerings of Hajj and Umrah. The company’s strategy includes developing personalized travel packages that emphasize Saudi Arabia’s historical and cultural attractions.
The Saudi tourism market is witnessing a substantial shift, with an influx of domestic and international travelers. The Kingdom’s investments in hospitality and entertainment infrastructure are aligning with HalalTrip’s mission to provide Muslim-friendly travel experiences.
By creating engaging content—such as blogs and travel guides—HalalTrip aims to showcase Saudi Arabia’s diverse offerings, including adventure activities and local cuisine.
Despite the opportunities, HalalTrip faces challenges, particularly in changing perceptions of Saudi Arabia as merely a pilgrimage destination. The company is targeting families, especially multi-generational groups, along with younger Muslim millennials and Gen Z travelers interested in authentic cultural experiences.
HalalTrip anticipates a gradual increase in interest from Muslim travelers as they discover the country’s rich heritage, with a focus on storytelling and strategic marketing to communicate these new narratives.
