Manchester Airport has announced a major revamp of Terminal 3, marking the next phase of its £1.3 billion transformation programmed. With Terminal 1 set to close in 2025 after more than 60 years of service, part of its footprint will be used to expand and modernize Terminal 3, creating a larger, more efficient space for travelers. This move aligns with the airport’s long-term plan to operate with just two terminals, streamlining operations and improving passenger flow.
The Terminal 3 overhaul will deliver a brand-new entrance, an expanded security hall with the latest screening technology, and a spacious departure lounge featuring a 500-seat bar, new shops, and upgraded dining options. These improvements are designed to provide a smoother, more comfortable journey, reducing wait times and offering more amenities for passengers. The airport’s management emphasizes that these changes will also support future growth and sustainability targets.
Construction is already underway, with completion expected in 2026. The revamp follows the successful expansion of Terminal 2, which opened in 2021 and set new standards for passenger experience at the airport. Once finished, the new Terminal 3 will be able to handle more flights and passengers, positioning Manchester Airport as a leading international gateway for the North of England.
This ambitious project reflects Manchester Airport’s ongoing commitment to investing in world-class facilities, ensuring it remains competitive and ready to meet the needs of modern travelers for years to come.
