The Radisson Group intends to build more than a dozen hotels by 2022, bringing the total number of hotels in operation and construction across the continent to slightly over 100.
The five new hotel signings in Q1 2022 span the continent, from Ethiopia and Senegal to Tunisia and Ghana, and cover the Group’s brand portfolio, from the fast-growing upmarket Radisson brand to Radisson Individuals, the Group’s newest conversion brand.
The Radisson Hotel Addis Ababa Bole Airport, which is now under development, is scheduled to open in the summer of 2023 and will be the first Radisson branded hotel in East Africa. The hotel is located 1.8 kilometres from Africa’s third-biggest airport hub, Bole International Airport, which is home to Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest airline, and the recently rebuilt terminal.
When it opens in 2024, the facility in Saly, a prominent beach resort in Senegal and the Sub-Saharan area, will be the first Radisson resort in Africa and the second Radisson branded property in Senegal. Saly, after Dakar, is the country’s second most popular tourist destination, with a diverse range of recreational amenities.
The Sfax hotel, which will include standard rooms and suites ranging from Junior to Presidential, will be the city’s first and only globally branded premium hotel. The Radisson Hotel Sfax, Tunisia, which will open in Q2 2022, will be located in the city centre, near the Port of Sfax, the country’s most significant trading port, and a 20-minute drive from Sfax-Thyna International Airport.
This existing independent hotel in Tunis will be completely renovated before reopening in January 2023. La Maison Blanche Tunis joins the Group’s current two hotels in Tunisia, as well as three under construction, for a total of over 1,000 rooms. The hotel is located 5 kilometres from Tunis-Carthage International Airport.
The property, which is set to open in Q2, will include a three-bedroom penthouse and a premium presidential suite, as well as serviced apartments with a separate living area, balcony, and fully equipped kitchen. This will be the Group’s third Accra property and the first of two Radisson Individuals hotels to open in Ghana, opening the door for future brand development in the nation.
