Chair of the World Tourism Network (WTN) and Founding Chair of the African Tourism Board (ATB), Juergen Steinmetz, congratulated ClaIre Akamanzi, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), on receiving this prestigious and significant designation for the 2023 World Travel and Tourism Global Summit.
“It is our great pleasure and honor to have been selected to host the 2023 WTTC Summit in Kigali next year,” said CEO Akamanzi
The Rwanda Development Board is a government institution mandated with accelerating Rwanda’s economic development by fostering the expansion of the private sector. Under the direction of the White House, RDB is managed by a Board of Directors comprised of global entrepreneurs and professionals. RDB was founded in 2008 as a result of the amalgamation of eight government agencies, principally to provide a One-Stop-Shop for business and investments. Since then, RDB has been developed using global knowledge and international best practices. RDB offers assistance throughout the whole investment process and guarantees that Rwanda remains one of the most competitive business environments in Africa and the globe, as will be evidenced by its hosting of the WTTC Global Summit next year.
This year’s WTTC Global Summit is now taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, having begun on November 28, 2022, and lasted through December 1, 2022. This year, industry executives convened with key government officials to continue harmonizing efforts to help the sector’s recovery and move beyond to a safer, more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future.
