Spain will soon follow UK in fortifying airport security screening. Very soon, passengers at Spanish airports will be allowed to take more than 100ml of liquid in their hand luggage. And a year down the line, restrictions on permissibility of carrying liquids will be completely removed at a few Spanish terminals.
At Madrid Barajas and Barcelona El-Prat Airports, a new 3D X-ray screening equipment will be installed by airport operator AENA. This move is slated to be followed by several other airports as well and positively by 2026 many will get the new technology.
Travelers will then be allowed to get screened without their electronics or liquids being removed from bags.
After having been tested in the United States, the new screening machines are set to be introduced in select UK airports from mid-2024. The new technology is anticipated to considerably hasten the screening process for passengers at airports.
