A recent study by Bumble and Klook reveals that travel significantly impacts relationships among Singaporeans, particularly among Gen Z and Millennials. The Roam-ance Study indicates that 73% of respondents believe traveling with a partner can alter their perception of the relationship, either positively or negatively. A crucial finding highlights that 91% of participants prioritize travel compatibility in their partner search, with travel conversations being a common icebreaker on dating apps.
Interestingly, 17% of Singaporeans admitted to ending a relationship due to negative travel experiences, with financial differences (45%) and emotional stability in crises (41%) being significant concerns. Notably, alignment in financial habits is deemed more crucial by Gen Zs (46%) compared to older Millennials (40%), likely reflecting their financial circumstances.
Klook’s data further shows that 58% of respondents prefer quick weekend getaways, with popular destinations like Johor Bahru, Bali, and Bangkok. Gen Z is particularly drawn to adventurous activities such as bungee jumping, whereas both generations share interests in cultural experiences.
