The hospitality industry was one of the leading contributors to the recovery of UK’s GDP which has risen for a fifth consecutive month in June but still remains 2% below its pre-pandemic levels.
According to a report issued by Office for National Statistics, the service sector continues to be the lead role player in GDP recovery for United Kingdom. The food and beverages sector was the main contributor in consumer services.
This highlights the importance of the hospitalty industry to a country’s economy and GDP. The travel and hospitalit industries are major revenue earners for many countries. However they have been one the worst hit since the start of the pandemic in 2020.
The recoveries are encouraging but there is still a long way to go. There are many problems affecting the hospitality sector, with labor shortage being one of the biggest. Hotels are coming up with various creative solutions in their desperate bid to lure more and more workers so that they can operate at full capacity and serve their guests properly.
