A LATAM Airlines flight en route from Miami to Santiago, Chile, faced an unexpected turn when one of its pilots experienced a mid-flight medical emergency. As a result, the flight had to be diverted to Panama City, where the pilot received medical attention. Tragically, the pilot’s condition worsened, leading to his passing.
LATAM Group expressed its condolences in a statement, saying, “LATAM Group is deeply saddened by this event and takes this opportunity to express our most sincere condolences to the family of our employee.” The airline recognized the pilot’s dedication, professionalism, and enthusiasm during his 25 years of service.
LATAM also conveyed regret for any inconvenience caused to passengers due to the unforeseen circumstance. The identity of the pilot was not disclosed.
Following the necessary procedures, the flight resumed its journey and reached its intended destination in Chile.
