A new high-speed train link connecting Miami to Orlando International Airport is set to open in early 2023. Once operational, the Brightline route would connect travelers from Orlando’s main international airport to the heart of Miami in three hours, with trains capable of reaching speeds of up to 125 miles per hour. There are also plans to add more stops and lines in the future, including the installation of stations at Disney Springs and in the Tampa region.
Brightline is the organization in charge of building the high-speed train route that will soon be able to transport passengers from Miami International Airport to Orlando International Airport and vice versa. It has been claimed that around 1200 construction workers have been working tirelessly to create the new route, with a total cost of US$2.7 billion. The project entails constructing around 170 kilometers of new track. The new train line’s construction is approximately 80% complete.
Once completed, Brightline’s high-speed trains will transport passengers to and from Orlando International Airport’s new Intermodal Terminal Facility, which will be located at the airport’s brand-new Terminal C, which is set to open in September 2022.
The operation, once completed and running, will link travelers from Orlando International Airport to the following stations:
- West Palm Beach (approximate travel time: 2 hours)
- Fort Lauderdale (travel time: 2.5 hours).
- Miami (travel time: 3 hours).
It also provides an alternate option for tourists wishing to connect to the heart of Miami, with travelers now able to take a connecting aircraft at Orlando’s airport or rent a vehicle to get there.
