For the third consecutive month beginning in September, the Grenada Tourism Authority reported a considerable rise in tourist arrivals compared to the benchmark year of 2019. According to the data, November 2022 was the month with the most visits, with a total of 14,232, a 17% increase over the same month in 2019.
The island hosted numerous notable conferences, including the CXC Annual Ministerial Summit, the Caribbean Society of Endoscopic Surgeons, and the Annual General Meeting of the Caribbean Chambers of Commerce, according to GTA.
As per the GTA, the addition of international flights from Air Canada, Sunwing Airlines, and Condor Airlines, as well as the expansion of the British Airways flight schedule from London Gatwick, gave tourists additional alternatives for visiting Grenada.
Notably, the United States market has seen the biggest recovery and accounts for 61% of all visits. The market is expected to complete 2022 with a 2% increase over 2019, which, considering that Grenada’s ports just opened in April of this year, demonstrates how robust the recovery has been.
CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority Petra Roach stated, “During the pandemic, we did a lot of groundwork putting systems in place to create a more efficient operation and evaluate our activity.”
“Since then, the country’s digital footprint has expanded significantly, which has given the country a much more cost-effective marketing reach”.
