In a recent announcement, Marriott International, Inc. revealed that it has partnered with Vinpearl, the largest hospitality and leisure chain in Vietnam, to develop an additional seven hotels and resorts, encompassing over 2,500 rooms. This follows the earlier agreement signed in 2022, which involved eight hotels. With this latest development, Vinpearl is set to become the largest owner of Marriott hotels and resorts in Vietnam, with a total of 15 properties.
Out of the seven properties, three are expected to be converted and join the Marriott system later this year. The Nha Trang Marriott Resort & Spa on Hon Tre Island is expected to have 829 rooms, including private villas with pools, various dining options, meeting rooms, and recreational facilities such as pools, tennis courts, a fitness center, and a spa. The Renaissance Hoi An Resort & Spa is set to undergo a rebranding and feature 193 rooms, private villas, dining options, recreational facilities, and meeting spaces in the elegant UNESCO-listed town of Hoi An. Meanwhile, the Danang Marriott Resort & Spa, Non Nuoc Beach Villas is expected to offer spacious villas, F&B outlets, recreational facilities, and a water sports center.
Marriott International also plans to open four new builds with more than 1,200 rooms by 2028, including the Bac Ninh Marriott Hotel which is set to open in 2026 and feature rooms, dining options, a ballroom, and meeting spaces in the northern province of Bac Ninh.
Currently, Marriott International operates 16 hotels and resorts in Vietnam, with plans to introduce several of its brands in the country, such as The Ritz-Carlton, Westin Hotels & Resorts, Element by Westin, and Courtyard by Marriott in the coming years.
“This signing marks another milestone in our collaboration with Vinpearl, and we are delighted to strengthen our collaboration with these additional signings,” said Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific Excluding China for Marriott International. “With new locations earmarked in important tourism hubs such as Danang and Nha Trang, our anticipated inaugural resort in the popular cultural town of Hoi An, and the anticipated first internationally branded five-star hotel in Bac Ninh, we are well-positioned to meet Vietnam’s diverse hospitality needs in primary, secondary and tertiary destinations.”
Mr Juergen Doerr, CEO Vinpearl further added, “We are delighted to continue working together and leveraging our strategic collaboration with Marriott across Vietnam.
