American Airlines’ Aircraft Halted in Wisconsin Due to ‘Smoke in Cabin’

After a jet with “smoke in [its] cabin” was forced to make an emergency landing in Madison, Wisconsin, on Sunday afternoon, American Airlines informed a passenger that “safety will always be our first concern”.

The cross-country aircraft from New York City to Los Angeles was grounded at 2:19 p.m. CT due to a “mechanical issue”.

According to Tom Rapier on Twitter, the flight was forced to land in Madison due to “smoke in-cabin”, and all passengers deplaned. Customers will be transferred to another plane to Los Angeles at 7:30 p.m. stated American Airlines.

American Airlines guaranteed that the crew would take “great care” of the customers who were stranded.

No customers or crew members were reported to have been injured.

“Our crew is working hard to get our passengers on their way as soon as possible, and we regret any inconvenience,” an American Airlines spokeswoman said in a statement
