A recent survey reveals that business travelers are largely indifferent to sustainability efforts within the travel industry. Despite growing awareness of environmental issues, many corporate travelers do not prioritize sustainable practices when making travel decisions, focusing instead on cost and convenience.
The survey revealed that while 83% of respondents believe sustainability is essential, only 45% consider a company’s environmental practices when booking their travel arrangements. Majority of business travelers prefer airlines and hotels that offer direct routes and favorable pricing over those that emphasize eco-friendly practices. This highlights a significant gap between the acknowledgment of sustainability’s importance and the actual prioritization of sustainable options in travel planning.
Experts suggest different initiatives, such as loyalty programs that reward sustainable choices or integrating carbon offset options directly into booking platforms, could motivate travelers to adopt more eco-friendly habits.
