Former US President Donald Trump has announced he will be launching his own social media app called TRUTH Social, as per a press release by Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG).
The beta version of the social app is scheduled to launch in November, and will only be available to select people. The app is expected to rollout to the general public in the first quarter of 2022.
Trump has stated he will ‘Stand Up to Big Tech’ companies like Facebook and Twitter, with the rollout of his own app. The decision was taken after Trump was driven out of the major social media platforms including Youtube, Facebook and Twitter, after the Jan 6 attack on the Capitol.
“I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech. We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced,” Trump said in the statement.
TRUTH Social app will be launched through a new company formed by a merger of the Trump Media and Technology Group and Digital World Acquisition Corp, listed on the Nasdaq, as per its statement.
“I am excited to send out my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon. TMTG was founded with a mission to give a voice to all. I’m excited to soon begin sharing my thoughts on TRUTH Social and to fight back against Big Tech,” according to the former US President.
