Intrepid Travel kickstarted its Turkey earthquake appeal fund with A$100,000 (£58,000) through its non-profit organisation, Intrepid Foundation.
The funds will provide immediate aid, relief, and rescue support in Turkey and Syria in the aftermath of the destructive earthquake.
Intrepid Travel has made a firm commitment to donate all profits from trips booked in Turkey until April 30, 2023.
The Intrepid Foundation has joined forces with the Australian Red Cross to guarantee that the funds are properly distributed. This partnership will allow Red Cross and Red Crescent partners to address both the immediate and long-term effects of the disaster. Additionally, Intrepid will match every dollar donated to the earthquake appeal and will also cover the administrative expenses of the foundation.
“This earthquake has devastated south-eastern Turkey and Syria. Most of us can only imagine the trauma of this scale,” said Biheng Zhang, GM of the Intrepid Foundation.
A 7.8 magnitude quake destroyed thousands of buildings and killed thousands in Turkey.
