The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Despite a federal judge ruling last month that the Biden administration’s 14-month-old transportation mask rule was unconstitutional, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated that travelers should continue to wear masks on flights, trains, and at airports.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advised all passengers over the age of two to wear masks on all modes of public transportation, as well as in transportation hubs such as airports and train stations. The agency’s advice comes after dozens of public transportation organizations in the United States, as well as five major airlines, withdrew their mask regulations for passengers and employees.
“We also encourage operators of public transportation and transportation hubs to support mask-wearing by all people, including employees,” the CDC said.
The CDC stated that its suggestion is based in large part on statistics indicating that the United States would see an increase in Covid cases this summer. The country is now averaging over 56,000 Covid cases per day, a considerable increase from the 25,000 infections reported in early April.
