Thursday, December 15, 2022, the Department of Personal Data Protection (JPDP) and Cybersecurity Malaysia (CSM) examined the AirAsia Aviation Group Ltd office to aid in an investigation into the data breach affecting five million AirAsia passengers and employees.Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said that JPDP and CSM officials seized papers and equipment for investigating reasons during the inspection.
Fahmi told the reporters during his first monthly meeting with the Communications and Digital Ministry personnel that he could not comment more on the reason for the data breach since the inquiry was still underway.
“All I can say is that action has been taken, and the inquiry is ongoing,” he said.
In a separate incident, Fahmi denied issuing an injunction prohibiting Dr. Ridhuan Tee Abdullah from participating in Forum Perdana Ehwal Islam, stating that the program was not within his control.
