Saudi Arabia will soon have to its name a next-generation getaway designed by Collective Retreats for eco-conscious travelers and guests. The ultra-sustainable property promises to “reimagine the meaning of outdoor hospitality.”
Slated to open in the first quarter of 2026 in the snowcapped mountains of NorthWestern Saudi Arabia and developed in partnership with NEOM, the property will be named Collective Trojena. When complete, it will feature 60 open-air guest rooms, meeting spaces, communal campfires, dramatic water features and unique culinary experiences that are inspired from fire.
The property’s mountain location is absolutely breath-taking and as it is stated online – “guests will be immersed in a journey that creates a true appreciation” of the landscape. The property is being designed to highlight the natural landscapes as well as to conjure up the dauntless spirit of the brand that Collective Retreats is.
Collective Retreats has established itself as a trailblazer in outdoor experiential hospitality, and its latest property is set to uphold that reputation by providing guests with an array of outdoor activities to choose from. These activities include skiing, snowboarding, high-altitude training, paragliding, mountain biking, hiking, yoga, and water sports. The idea is to provide guests with “immersive wellness, water, and discovery activities,” says the property’s website. There are going to be unique culinary treats and other festivals.
To prioritize sustainability, the upcoming property will be fully powered by solar and wind energy. In addition, the development of technology centered on water desalination and brine processing will be implemented to ensure zero waste residual.
“Since its inception, Collective Retreats has been lauded for its innovative thinking and passionate commitment to sustainability, making them the ideal partner for the Trojena NEOM project,” said Philip Gullet, executive director and region head at Trojena. “Collective Retreats will be outstanding stewards of this new outdoor retreat experience in Trojena and will perfectly complement the environmental and sustainability principles and practices that are at the core of the NEOM project.”
In recent weeks and months, Saudi Arabia has been at the center of numerous developments and news within the travel industry. The latest advancement in this regard is the introduction of a free four-day stopover transit visa for air travelers, which will make visiting the country much more convenient.
