EasyJet has launched a new twice-weekly flight service between Birmingham and City of Derry Airport starting September 1, 2025. Operating on Mondays and Fridays with Airbus A320 aircraft, this route provides vital connectivity for leisure and business travelers in the region, filling a gap after Ryanair discontinued the route earlier this year.
The new service caters to diverse travelers including commuters, students, and families visiting relatives between the Northwest of Northern Ireland and the UK Midlands. The Monday and Friday schedule is especially convenient for business passengers traveling at the start of the week and returning for weekends. EasyJet’s UK Country Manager, Ali Gayward, highlights the airline’s commitment to expanding affordable and flexible travel options from City of Derry, where easyJet has quickly become the largest carrier offering routes to Liverpool, Edinburgh, and now Birmingham.
City of Derry Airport’s Managing Director, Steve Frazer, praised the launch for boosting the local economy and tourism market, enhancing accessibility across areas including Strabane, the Causeway Coast, and Donegal. The 460-kilometre service currently faces no direct competitors, making it a unique and sought-after connection for passengers.
