Following the defeat of its attempt to acquire Spirit Airlines, Frontier Airlines has launched a limited-time ticket discount on one million seats, with prices starting at just $19. The discount, which is valid through August 1 for travel between August 2 and October 5, applies to domestic nonstop flights from and to specified airports on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
Tuesday through Friday, travel from Las Vegas, Phoenix, Florida, Denver, California, Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Savannah, Nashville, New Orleans, Seattle, and Portland is permitted. Sunday through Wednesday, you can go to the same cities. The package includes blackout dates on August 31st and September 3rd, 6-7. Seven-day advance purchase is required to take advantage of the deal, but a round-trip purchase is not required.
“Frontier Airlines is offering an inflation-busting blockbuster fare sale to destinations throughout the U.S., Caribbean, and Latin America,” Frontier senior vice president Daniel Shurz said. “When fares are this cheap, they won’t last long so grab them while you can.”
Spirit announced the termination of a merger agreement with Frontier on Wednesday. In a stockholder vote held at the company’s headquarters in Florida, shareholders rejected the Frontier deal. Spirit and Frontier had agreed in principle to merge in February, but JetBlue came in with an offer less than six weeks later before opting for a hostile takeover attempt. Frontier said earlier this month that it would no longer increase its bid for Spirit.
