According to an official, the Thai government anticipates tourist earnings to reach 2.38 trillion baht ($64 billion) next year.
As the tourist sector, a crucial engine of the Southeast Asian country’s economic development continues to improve, the Thai government has set a target of restoring income to 80% of its 2019 level by 2023. This was revealed by acting government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri, according to a news source.
In the best-case scenario, the Thai government anticipates 1.5 trillion baht in tourism earnings from international travelers and 880 billion baht from domestic travel in 2023, as per Anucha.
The country plans to receive 1.5 million tourists every month throughout the fourth quarter of this year, according to the spokeswoman, who added that the figure has already surpassed 1 million this month.
This year, the country hopes to welcome 10 million tourists.
