Last Saturday, San Francisco International Airport reopened after the International Terminal was evacuated overnight due to a bomb threat.
“Police have cleared the Int’l Terminal. SFO resumes normal operations,” the airport said in a tweet last Saturday.
A suspicious parcel was left unattended in the airport prompting the authorities to become cautious, according to various media agencies, including KNBC Bay Area.
Last Friday night, at about 8:15 p.m. PDT, the incident occurred. Police shut down the terminal and stalled the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) line that links directly to SFO after discovering the suspicious, unattended item.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, one individual was detained and questioned in connection with the event but was not arrested. The SFPD securely removed the item.
Last Saturday, at roughly 6:25 a.m. San Francisco time, the BART station reopened and airport departures resumed.
