SAS said that around 4% of all flights scheduled for September and October had been cancelled. SAS further reported that passengers have already been notified of cancellations and have been re-booked on other flights.
According to a representative for SAS, the airline was forced to cancel these flights owing to the consequences of the pilot strike, as well as delayed aircraft deliveries and other circumstances.
“It is the effects from the strike but also delayed deliveries of aircraft and some other factors,” the spokesperson said.
Furthermore, the representative stated that the organization does not anticipate decreasing demand. They further disclose that SAS obtained bridging finance from Apollo Global Management during the US chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
SAS applied for protection only a day after the strike began. Nonetheless, the Swedish government has denied the request for further financing, although Denmark has stated that it may forgive some debt and infuse funds if SAS receives backing from other investors.
