Hotel Rates In Asia Remain Below Pre-Pandemic Levels

Digitrips reports that, as of the end of 2022, Asia is the only region where popular destinations still had hotel rates below the levels observed in 2019.

“Our data from MisterFly suggests Asia continues to lag behind as the late reopening means hotels must keep prices low to stimulate demand,” said Emilie Dumont, Digitrips MD.

“While visitors to Barcelona could expect to pay on average 30% more, staying in Tokyo or Bangkok was still significantly cheaper.”

While hotel stays in Europe got more expensive by 25% and in North America by 33%, many well-liked destinations in Asia continue to provide accommodation at lower prices than before the onset of the pandemic.
